I am a bit new, so I may show some ignorance in my post.
(I'm just going to say, right now, so new to the game, when someone locks onto me, my heart beat does race.)
What is the point staying to fight in an ore field? Is it something that can't be replaced a warp away or waited out for 15-20 minutes till the would-be gankers get bored and leave?
I have a Tristan (about 6 hours till I can train cruisers, woot! ^^) that I have spent millions on (a lot for me) and it still could use millions more in upgrades - but I don't use it in PvP, becuase honestly, I don't want to lose it. The few times I've engaged in PvP with it, I usually run after I see 1 cycle of my targets weapons wipe out my shields. Should I stay and fight it out just becuase this guy warped into a field and found me fighting rats, knowing in the next 2 cycles of my targets weapons I'm going to be flying my pod?
It just seems to be what you're looking for is something that is in need of being defended, such as a player owned outpost or station or something like that (not very far into the game, and I haven't been in 0.0 space yet, so I haven't seen these things). Do people run away at signs of trouble when people show up to take an outpost or destroy a station (or cap it, whatever is done), or do they stay and fight to defend what needs to be defended? Isin't there more ship killing in those types of raids?
There is a big difference in being a wuss and knowning when the fight is not going to go your way. To stay knowing you're going to die is idiotic. There is no "honor" is staying".
In a bar fight, wouldn't you walk away when someone pulled a shotgun to your poolstick, or are you going to take that swing knowing you're going to get blown away in the second it takes you to swing?
Now to the WCS. When someone has a WCS on, they are choosing that over something else that can be used in its place, right? Why would I want my Ilteron getting destroyed to a small frig carrying 2 WCD's and a few weapons? I wouldn't, so I'd carry some WCS if I was smart.
I also am really not interested in PvP at this point in time, so that right there would promt me to add WCS's onto some of my ships. Why should I be forced to PvP when there are options that let me avoid it (and not just staying in high sec zones)?
I'm just a newb, so there is probably some ignorance on my part in there. Sorry for it.
